Highlights from the EmpowerHER Luncheon in Johannesburg

In a vibrant gathering that resonated with empowerment and inspiration, the EmpowerHER Luncheon became a transformative experience for women from all walks of life. This event was not just a luncheon but a celebration of women supporting women, armed with knowledge and the promise of a brighter future.

The luncheon brought together a diverse group of women united by a common goal: to uplift and empower each other. Speakers arrived with open hearts and minds, ready to share their stories, insights, and experiences.

The highlight of the luncheon was a series of empowering talks from remarkable women who shared their journeys, challenges, and triumphs. These speakers, who have carved their paths in various fields, emphasized the importance of resilience, self-belief, and community support.

On the panel we had serial entrepreneur Bathabile Moreki, who emphasised the need for multiple streams of income and using time effectively. She says cutting some TV and waking up an hour earlier can add time to the day and allow one to explore other things outside of the 9 to 5.

Actor, model and social entrepreneur Pearl Nikolic shared the word on identity, being rooted and intentional about what direction we want our lives to take.

FNB’s Limpopo commercial banking area manager, Khanyisa Mhlongo was next with her nuggets of wisdom on offerings by FNB. She highlighted the importance of community and identifying the community that resonates with your goals. Stressing that being in a community of like-minded people puts one in check.

Mining boss Vinolia Vilakazi ramped up the gears with her talk on building thriving businesses. Her advice; shape up and know your business, know every cent that comes in and that leaves the bank account. Be accountable and have an accountable banker.

A motivational talk from Kgomotso Mogorosi brought back the reality of struggle that many face in the country but how a resolute mind and focus can turn things around.

The conversation with our editor Kamo Seekoei was delightful with her own nuggets on what it takes to build a business from pocket, how she dealt with stagnation and the future of the magazine.

As the day progressed, it became evident that EmpowerHER Luncheon was about more than just sharing information; it was about building a supportive community. The networking part was the cherry on the cake as guests exchanged contact information and discussed potential collaborations, fostering relationships far beyond the event.

The EmpowerHER Luncheon in Johannesburg was a resounding success, shining a light on women's immense potential when they come together to inspire and uplift each other. As we reflect on this unforgettable event, let us carry forward the spirit of empowerment, continuing to support, mentor, and celebrate one another in our personal and professional journeys.

As we move into the future, this gathering may be a gentle reminder that incredible transformations can occur when women unite. Together, we will continue to empower one another, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of fearless women leaders.

Join us at our next event at Bloemfontein on October 26th as we continue to celebrate this empowering journey.

American novelist Louisa May Alcott said it best when she said “Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.”
